FAQ's
Why should I plan ahead for my funeral or a loved one’s?
Planning ahead reduces emotional and financial stress for your family during
an already difficult time. It ensures your wishes are followed, locks in
today’s prices, and gives your family peace of mind knowing they won’t have to
make rushed decisions later.
What’s the difference between pre-need and at-need planning?
Isn’t this something I can leave for my family to decide later?
You could — but that often leads to confusion, disagreement, and stress
during an already difficult time. Families may struggle to agree on what you
“would have wanted,” and decisions made under pressure can be costly.
How much does a funeral or cremation cost?
Costs vary depending on location, burial vs. cremation, and the type of
service. On average in the U.S., funerals range from $7,000–$12,000, while
cremations average $3,000–$7,000. Planning ahead lets you set a budget, avoid
rising costs, and choose what’s right for you.
What happens if I move or change my mind later?
Most pre-need plans are flexible and can be transferred to another provider
if you relocate. You can also update your plan if your preferences or
circumstances change.
What exactly can I pre-plan?
Almost everything!
You can make choices about:
• Burial or cremation
• Type of service (religious, celebration of life, private)
• Location (cemetery, memorial park, or other venue)
• Details like music, readings, flowers, or photos
• Payment arrangements
• How to notify your friends and family
• What to say in a good-bye video
• What charity might you want mourners to support in your memory
• What to do with your digital personas... And more!
This way, everything reflects your values and wishes.
Do I have to pay for everything up front?
No. Many families choose flexible payment plans that spread out costs over
time. Pre-need planning is about reducing the financial burden — not creating
one.
Will my family still have choices when the time comes?
Only if you want them to - Yes. A pre-plan sets the foundation, allowing your
family to personalize and add touches that feel right for them — without
worrying about the big decisions or expenses.
Is my money safe if I pre-pay?
Yes. By law, funds are placed in a trust or insurance product designed to
protect your investment until services are needed. This ensures your money is
secure and used exactly as intended.
Isn’t death a little uncomfortable to talk about?
Yes. That's exactly why we built Clozure.
The discomfort doesn't disappear when you avoid it — it just gets handed to the
people you love at the worst possible moment, when they're grieving and trying
to guess what you would have wanted. One uncomfortable conversation now saves
your family hundreds of hours later.
And it's easier than you think when you have a place to put the answers. Coda
walks you through it one small step at a time, so you're never staring at a
blank page. You don't have to do it all at once. You don't have to do it alone.
How does Clozure protect my data?

Can I use Clozure for someone who has already passed?
Yes you can. Many users start Clozure after a loss to organize details, documents, and memorials in one place. We’ll guide you step by step.
What makes Clozure different from a lawyer or a funeral home?

The Clozure Card™ is sleek, durably manufactured from .08mm anodized aluminum, and laser engraved right here in the USA by the same artisan manufacturer of the Grammy Awards!
Featuring prominent medical alert iconography, it is a critical link to your Clozure profile.
